On Tuesday 16th January 2024, The Komenda College of Education, Komenda set a dynamic tone for the academic year with a lively opening assembly, extending a warm welcome to both freshers and continuing students.

Vice Principal Mr. Theophilus Bassaw delivered a compelling opening address, urging students to embody humility, respect for authority, punctuality, and hard work. He emphasized the significance of faith, stating that success accompanies those who walk the path with the Lord.

Principal Very Rev. Kwesi Inkoom Wilson (PhD) congratulated first-year students on their successful admission, highlighting the challenging task of selecting 290 students from a pool of 1400 qualified first-choice applicants. Encouraging diligence, he stressed the importance of honoring parents and abiding by school rules. The Principal issued a reminder to download the school’s handbook from [www.komendacollege.edu.gh, cautioning that “A breach of common sense is a breach of school rules.” He also addressed social media conduct and updated the college on its agricultural initiatives, stating, “There is dignity in labor.”

Concerning health, Very Rev. Kwesi Nkum Wilson (PhD) earnestly urged students with chronic diseases to seek prompt treatment and adhere to prescribed medications.
Very Rev. Kwesi Nkum Wilson cautions student-teachers to wear the school’s prescribed uniform for easy identification. Notably, the Principal proudly declared Komenda College of Education as the sole institution in Ghana teaching sign language.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. Godwin Anane stressed the use of movement books when leaving campus and expressed gratitude to everyone present. The PRO also called on continuing students to guide and mentor newcomers, fostering a culture of responsibility and adherence to the college’s values.

The opening ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Vice Principal Mr. Theophilus Bassaw, leaving the college community energized for a promising academic year.
